To my utter surprise, I noticed the board of HDFC Bank in one ATM, which had been designated for Centurian Bank. When I inquired, I came to know that HDFC Bank Ltd, one of the leading private bank in India has taken over Centurian Bank.
It has become quiet and old story now that Standard Chartered Bank has acquired American Express Bank. Its worth mentionable that Standard Chartered Bank (SCB) and Standard Chartered Grindlays (SCG) Bank had been merged perhaps 7 or 8 years back.
Among the major cellular operator Command had turned to Hutch a decade back and off late it has become Vodafone. The history witnessed merger of two premier brands in the world of Computer Hardware much earlier. Being Indian, we feel proud of TATA, when they take over foreign leading car manufacturing companies.
This is true that globalization has opened up the world for everybody and has converted the entire world as competitors of yours. We admit that modern business look out prefers mergers, collaborations, acquirement as a part of its business endeavor, where diversification and encroachment are professionally admired.
We also agree that professionalism hardly become compatible with emotions and corporates are NOT at all liable for social welfare, but what really happens to middle class management of the acquired company?
