Bridge the gap
Facts remain always hard in life and that is applicable even in case of the education system and the industry demands. Academicians prepare youngsters for their future, but the entire system suffers from a serious lacuna, which refrains the companies from absorbing them onto their ongoing projects. The academicians justify that they will bridge the gap during the course of professional exposures. On the other hand, the industry are hardly interested in holding the patience due to tremendous pressure of their delivery schedule.
The concept of globalization and overwhelming growth of IT and outsourcing business endeavors have pinpointed this acute ravine in a vibrant way.
Large corporates try to groom the fresh recruits through various level of induction and upgrade programs either by their own HRD team or by appointing some external agencies, but small or medium sized companies hardly can afford such an exorbitant cost. As a result the salary level for beginners remains abysmally low, but in due course a quantum leap after a couple of years is certain when they have bagged real live project experience, which again become a serious concern for various companies when start doing their CBA diligently.
The concept of finishing school had emerged primarily to bridge the gap between academics and industries.
The aspirant student community have become prudent enough to enroll themselves in such finishing school programs over the years for a lucrative career option. The survey of NASSCOM predicts a quantum jump in demand for fresh blood in the IT regime in next couple of years, but they have also sent the caution, by revealing the fact that the majority of the academically qualified people in India is unemployable. NASSCOM might have mainly emphasized on soft skill of the fresh graduates including the cream engineering stream, but various industry leaders have found this gap in all the segments.
Mostly the finishing schools impart that required soft skill including the initial level of managerial skill and technique, which is mandatory in a vulnerable age of youngsters for a profound base in career initiation. Some companies also compel the students to undergo the rigmarole of various projects to make them project ready professionals.
May be Mr. Bikram Dasgupta, the visionary and entrepreneurs, conceptualized finishing school to develop new frontiers for core IT segment and implement it through his brain child YSM course in Globsyn Technology, much earlier, but today various institutes having traced the same path as followed and acknowledging BDG’s instinctive leadership as a pioneer.
