Recreation - only the shape changes

The term recreation may be defined as a set of activities that diverts or amuses him after a rigorous work session, by which he rejuvenates his body and mind for the next session of work.

However the mode of recreation has changed a lot over the years. If we look back, Indian emperor has played backgammon by using maid servant as checkers and now backgammon is played even on a folded board.

Various games and sports always found its extreme place as recreation. People have been playing various indoor games or in the ancient history people used to enjoy fighting with a bull. Golf had been a prime recreation all over the Europe for long. Gambling was and has been an extreme recreation for various segments of people over the years. The form may be horse race or online casino. Later on, the immense pressure of earning and high ambition of people have sliced down the time frame for recreation and people have started confined themselves more and more in various indoor games or spending time in clubs.

The nature of recreation varies quiet a lot on the availability and affordability. Like Cancun is the first choice for spring break for a lot of students of US, but an Indian can hardly think of Cancun as a choice for break. Again Cancun can not become a daily recreation. If we talk of daily recreation, then perhaps Television/ newspapers/ magazines play the most important role, where a small comic or a dance program during the dinner can relax the people a lot. Let us take an example a young couple can think of kiss as a recreation, but a mid aged woman can hardly think of such a recreation. The reality is that sex has been always used as a prime recreation for the lower or lower-middle class of people, the proof lies in the number of children they used to give birth in the old ages. In fact, the educated community or even the rich people had various other ways to rejuvinate themselves and the poor had only sex as their option for recreation.

Clubs

Nevertheless, clubs and such informal institutions have always played a key role of recreation over the ages, where the people can gather not only to play games or gamble but also to exchange views and ideas. What we want to reinsist that every living being needs a recreation even today to relax from their stress and strain and recreation only can add that extra spirit in their lives to make them ready for the next dawn.
