Oscar rheumatism is on full swing. More the merrier had become the mantra for this year (At least for India’s, eight Oscars at a stretch) Oscar ceremony. It is emphatically incomprehensible, that there are few resonance big wigs in the entire art field who are not convinced with the Oscar credentials of the path breaking, breakthrough of a gem like slumdog millionaire!
Why? Why the astounding Oscar (or rather Oscars) victory of slumdog millionaire is not an impetus for Indian cinema?
It is simply a vile in the part of these renowned cinema creators to comment in so slapdash manner that too on an authentic asset like slumdog millionaire! Is it simply because the director of the legendary movie is a non Indian? Perhaps this reason is a little feeble to get convincing stamp of majority. Since apart from directors, ninety nine percent of the cast and crew were Indians.
It is not first time that a non Indian is a director of a hard core Indian cinema. Previously there were plenty Indian films, created by non Indian directors and moreover those were not strictly based on cent percent Indian scenario. Whereas any one who had seen even few trailers of slumdog will consent that it is an archetypal real Indian story presented in a flabbergasting way. Simply because the director has a white complexion, we can never ignominies this honor fiesta of India.
Apart from sensible rationality, it is the miracle called slumdog millionaire that had earned not one but eight Oscars in the history of Indian cinema, after almost twenty three years.
It is genius and brilliant attempt of slumdog millionaire that had rendered far fetched recognition, capital to the paucity ridden slum inhabitants, who acted in the film. Through the alley of slumdog millionaire, slum blossoms like azhar, rubina who does not have financial stamina to cross the school premises, had made ingresses in the majestic stage of Oscar in a dress code no less than king and queen. It is only and only slumdog millionaire that had reproved the constant theory that there is a colossal intellect scope beyond the prototype oxford, convent education. It is a prodigy of slumdog millionaire that had defied the myth which say, slum habitats is synonymous with criminals, smugglers and rapists.
Slumdog millionaire had paved the way for love refurbishment through a slum habitat, which authenticate that even slum people are human beings; even they have emotional ability to love and beloved.
Even they have the fundamental rights to live like a natural human beings and not dogs. Returning to the issue of non Indian director than it has to be printed that director is a member of the entire team working onscreen and off screen of a cinema. Then if an Australian actress can act in a film and still the film retains to be an Indian film then what is the fuss, if a foreign director had made a die hard Indian movie. Slumdog millionaire is portrayed on the backdrop of Mumbai dharavi and its residents. The storyline is in flawless harmony with India.
Moreover the total narration, screenplay, presentation, music and all the other elements glorifying the movie is strictly rooted to mother India.
So don’t you think we all should give a prolonged thought before scarring the silver screen carnival on the basis of sheer body complexion!
